Late Picasso

I've been pretty obsessed with the normally much maligned
late period Picasso. I missed a big museum show of them in
Germany when I was there last year, have found a few choice
examples here in LA at LACMA, and now there is a big show
going up in NYC.
Pablo Picasso
To me these paintings still seem
unbelievably
free, fresh, and seriously tough.

saw the show at Gagosian NY today, it was fascinating. My brain's still conditioned to read them as bad Picassos, but there are also paintings and passages that look like the best work by any half dozen major painters of the last 10 years.

Which has to be disconcerting for a painter today.
